Over the course of 2025, Defiance Research Alliance hosted in six educational opportunities for 365 conservation and water quality professionals.
- February: Julie Good and Gabriel Curtis presented on Nutrient Excess in Our Rivers as a part of the Upper Maumee Watershed Partnership Speakers Series to 33 people.
- April: Defiance Research Alliance and the Maumee Watershed Alliance Cohosted the Land to Lake Conference: Partnerships for Practical Solutions that brought 75 stakeholders from the Western Lake Erie Basin together to talk about projects and initiatives that are happening, and the partnerships that are needed to make success.
- June: The Defiance River Alliance joined the celebration at RiverFest 2025 by providing education and information on ways to improve the Maumee River and its tributaries. This is a community event held at Pontiac Park in Defiance, OH to honor the Maumee River and promote environmental awareness and the importance of environmental stewardship. DRA was able to talk to nearly 200 people about the work they do.
- July: The Upper Maumee Watershed Partnership and Defiance Research Alliance hosted a Ditch Visit at the Singer Farms to learn more about the recent ditch projects: The Bend Road Ditch and the Lockwood Road Ditch. 17 stakeholders joined Scott Singer as he described the design, function, and proposed maintenance of the ditches for this field event.
- October: Russ Terry, Regional Biologist for Ducks Unlimited, and Eric Saas, Program Manager with H2Ohio, presented Building Wetlands for Habitat and Water Quality as a part of the Upper Maumee Partnership Speaker Series to 19 people.
- December: Sandra Kosek-Sills, Environmental Specialist from Ohio Lake Erie Commission presented on Ohio’s Domestic Action Plan as a part of the Upper Maumee Partnership Speaker Series to 21 people.
